Rosebud Sea Scouts
NEWS
Welcome to Rosebud Sea Scouts

We run a range of great programs for youth aged from 5-18 packed with fun, adventure, challenges & friends!

Scouting runs activities in age based sections so that you and/or your child can have fun & adventure with others around their own age.

Rosebud Sea Scouts currently have members in 4 sections.
Venturers - ages 15-18 Monday 7-9pm
Joey Scouts - ages 5-9 Monday 5:45 to 6:45pm
Cub Scouts - ages 8-12 Tuesday 6:30 to 8pm
Scouts - ages 11-15 Thursday 7-9pm

These regular meeting nights take place during school terms. Some activities such as camps or hikes may take place on weekends or school holidays.

When you join Rosebud Sea Scouts, your child has the opportunity to learn & explore.
Scouts incorporates nature, adventure, challenge, citizenship, leadership and fun!
We are fortunate to have skilled & trained Leaders delivering our programmes (however new Leaders are always welcome.)

We look forward to seeing you in person at Rosebud Sea Scouts

What can I do to help out??

You might be the parent of a Cub, Joey, Scout or Venturer.
You might have been a Scout once upon a time.
Or you might have no Scouting experience at all, but have valuable skills & expertise.
Fact is, having more contributing adults on board creates a better experience for our youth members and families.

Take a look at our Parent Guide - Introduction to Scouting for some inspiration

Relevant training is available online and where necessary face to face.

Take a look at some of the roles where you might be able to make a difference.

If you're a parent, consider becoming registered so that you can stay on regular overnight camps.

Maybe an administrative role on our Group Support Committee - SUPPORTING (scoutsvictoria.com.au)

Or become a leader - a wider range of experience & inspiration makes our programmes even better for our youth.

EVENTS

We're off to a busy, busy start. Hosted the Mornington Peninsula District Scouts ARAP on October 8th.

Two of our Venturers, Phoebe & Riley told the crowd about their great Scouting experiences this year.

Just a great night with lots of young people sharing their experiences and lots of older people plotting & scheming for the next big adventure!

Speaking of adventure, upcoming highlights include:
'Boost', a State Activity Camp @ Mt Martha
'Rosebud Raft Regatta' - we're inviting all Scouts from Mornington Peninsula to come rafting with us on November 10
Joey Scouts' State Zoo Day. November 16th
'MasterChef' Camp @ Camp Niall, Tuerong
"Shakedown Camp" @ Bell Park Scout Camp

At Shakedown Camp, our Scouts meet 30 other Scouts that they will be camping with at the Australian Jamboree from 6-15 January 2025 @ Maryborough, Queensland

Come & join the adventure with us!!

Ten steps to becoming a Scout!

1. A parent or guardian makes contact. See the Join Us form on this page!
2. The parent or guardian downloads & fills in the Y4 Pre-Registration Form
3. The new Scout comes along for a trial period. With their parent & the Y4 form.
4. An email will be sent by Scouts Victoria to the parent or guardian for more details - fill it in & return ASAP.
5. An invoice will be sent by our Group Treasurer (who will also assist with uniform requirements). Pay the invoice when the trial is complete.
6. The Scout will be registered with Scouts Victoria
7. Once registered the Scout starts on two orientation badges- Introduction to Scouting & Introduction to Section.
8. Cub Scouts only may be presented with a white scarf, as per Jungle Book tradition.
9. While this happens the parent or guardian will be sent a request to fill in the Scout's Operoo online health record.
10. When all of these steps are complete, the 'Investiture' takes place. In this ceremony the Scout says their Promise with their fellow Scouts, before being presented with their first badges & their group scarf.
